Socrates was a classical Greek philosopher who is credited with laying the fundamentals of modern Western philosophy. His teachings have been followed for centuries and are to this day considered one of the most powerful tools for critical thinking.
Socrates engaged in questioning of his students in an unending search for truth. By applying critical questioning he aimed to uncover the underlying assumptions and beliefs so that any inadequacies and inconsistencies could be addressed. Instead of jumping to ill-considered answers, Socrates aimed to ensure the right questions were being asked.
A core tenant of this approach is that the unexamined life is not worth living. Socrates thought it extremely important to know who we were and what we were trying to become. We believe this collaborative pursuit of wisdom through critical questioning and logical argument is the foundation of successful entrepreneurship.
At Endeavor, this not only inspired our name, but also underpins our mindset and approach.
